Shop
Located in Nihombashi, Succeeding the Tradition

The Haibara store is located in Tokyo Nihombashi Tower, 1 minute walk from Nihombashi station B6 exit. In 2015, the store moved to its present location along Chuo Street. The new building succeeded the traditional imagery of mortar walls, tiled roof, and shop curtain. The exterior brick is made by trained bricklayer using clay from Mikawa, with the motives of traditional patterned paper “Colored Glass”. The interior design is reminiscent of the former Haibara Building constructed during early Showa period. A tapestry hanged at the center of the store is made of Echizen Washi by Osada Hachidayu the IV. The polka-dot patterns at the bottom represent water, inserted fibers represent native plants to become ingredients of Washi, and Haibara’s logo represents sun. All three factors symbolize manufacturing process of Washi, which is regarded as cooperative work between nature and human beings.
